Technical Electives Criteria for ISE Undergraduate Programs (Updated 241)
Below is the text for the criteria of technical electives:
As long as pre-requisites are met, and cross-listed courses (courses that are not to be taken for credit with courses on the ISE degree plan, e.g., STAT 319) are observed, a student can take any course that satisfies the following requirements:
- Course must be 300 or 400-level (i.e., 3xx or 4xx).
- Course must be 3 credit hours.
- Course must be taken for a letter grade.
- Course must be offered by any of the following colleges/departments:
- College of Engineering and Physics
- College of Computing and Mathematics (excluding ISE)
- College of Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences
- College of Chemicals and Materials
- Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Management
- Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
- The following exclusions/restrictions must be respected:
- ISE 440 and SWE 387 cannot both be taken for credit.
- CE 318 cannot be counted as a technical elective.
- MATH 371 cannot be counted as a technical elective.
- Please note that SWE 387 is currently major-restricted since it is being prioritized for SWE students. Do not consider it in your SEP.
- We recommend that students consult with their advisors regarding courses they are planning on taking.
