Below is the text for the criteria of technical electives:

As long as pre-requisites are met, and cross-listed courses (courses that are not to be taken for credit with courses on the ISE degree plan, e.g., STAT 319) are observed, a student can take any course that satisfies the following requirements:

  • Course must be 300 or 400-level (i.e., 3xx or 4xx).
  • Course must be 3 credit hours.
  • Course must be taken for a letter grade.
  • Course must be offered by any of the following colleges/departments:
    • College of Engineering and Physics
    • College of Computing and Mathematics (excluding ISE)
    • College of Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences
    • College of Chemicals and Materials
    • Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Management

  • The following exclusions/restrictions must be respected:
    • ISE 440 and SWE 387 cannot both be taken for credit.
    • CE 318 cannot be counted as a technical elective.
    • MATH 371 cannot be counted as a technical elective.
  • Please note that SWE 387 is currently major-restricted since it is being prioritized for SWE students. Do not consider it in your SEP.
  • We recommend that students consult with their advisors regarding courses they are planning on taking.
