PhD Comprehensive Exam
Aim: To assess student knowledge in understanding advanced concepts in his major area.
Policy: The exam can be taken at most twice.
Level: 100% graduate.
Content:
- The exam will be in the material of the following courses: ISE 502, ISE 503, ISE 508, and ISE 521.
- If a student passes any of these topics with A+ score, he/she will be exempted from taking an exam in them in the comprehensive exam.
Grading Policy:
- A student passes if he/she scores at least B in all exam sections.
- A student fails if he/she scores less than 70% in any exam section, and he/she has the chance to retake the sections in which he/she scored less than 70%.
- Only one retake is allowed for each exam section with a score of less than 70%.
- Any repeated exam part must be taken within the next semester in which the original comprehensive exam is taken.
- To pass the student has to score at least 70% in each repeated exam.
- Scoring less than 70% in any repeated exam is considered as failure, and results in dismissal from the program.
Exam dates:
- Starting from Term 261, the comprehensive exam will be conducted during the first two weeks of every semester
